Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take subsidy?

Yes!

Are you a licensed daycare?

Yes, we are a licensed daycare under WeWatch.

What is your rate?

$23.62 per day (for children under 3 y/o) and $19.84 per day (for children over 3 y/o). Our rates includes meals, milk, snacks and taxes. Our licensing agency WeeWatch also charges a one time $50 registration fee. There are no hidden or additional fees.

What age do you accept?

We accept children aged 12 months to 4 years old.

Do you accept children for March Break, Summer Break, or PA days?

No. All our spaces are full-time (year-round) spaces, and accepting children only on certain days would put us over our class ratios.

Is there a registration fee? Meal fees? Or additional taxes?

Our licensing agency WeeWatch charges a one time $50 registration fee, but there are no meal fees or additional taxes. Our prices include everything, including meals, milk, snacks and taxes.

Is your staff certified with CPR?

Yes! Our staff is certified with CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers, and has a valid (clean) Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Are there pets or smokers in the home?

No. We are a pet-free, smoke-free, and alcohol-free home.

Do I have to send a diaper bag everyday?

No. (What a hassle that would be!) On your child's first day, you bring 2-3 weeks worth of diapers, wipes and cream. We label and date all your supplies; storing 1 week's worth in your child's cubby, and the rest in our storage area. Fridays are Supply Request Day and if your child is running low on supplies, we let you know. That way you always know when to expect a request, and have the weekend to shop.

What COVID-19 protocols do you have in place?

Our children are socially distanced and their temperatures are taken every morning. Our toys are colour-coded for zero sharing, sanitized every day, and washed once per month. All tables and chairs are sanitized at least twice per day, and children's hands and faces are cleaned before and after every snack and meal. All staff members are double vaccinated against Covid-19, wear face masks and shields, take their temperature every day, and practice handwashing and sanitizing protocols recommended by the Ministry of Health. No outside adults or children are allowed in the daycare space (including no tours of the space); it is dedicated and kept sanitized for only our staff and registered children. For more information visit COVID-19 Safety or Contact Us.

Have you ever had an incident or outbreak of COVID-19?

No. Not one.

What are your hours of operation?

7:00am - 5:15pm, Monday through Friday.

Can I watch my child in daycare?

We use an app called Seesaw to send pictures and videos of your child playing, learning, and growing every week.

What if my child is vegetarian, pescetarian, halal only, or has allergies?

We cater to vegetarians and pescatarians by altering our menu on days when meat is served. Halal only children can have vegetarian options, or parents can supply Halal options for their child for meat meals. There are many allergies we can accommodate in our menu, so speak to us about your child's specific needs. (We are not a nut-free home.)

How many children in the class?

6 maximum.

How many teachers in the class?

1 full-time teacher is in the classroom.

What is the teacher:student ratio?

1:6 or lower.

Do I have to supply a crib/playpen/blankets for my child?

No, we provide everything for naptime, including playpens, blankets, cots, and pillows for older children. We assign a blanket and pillow to children on their first day, and they use the same until their last day. We wash blankets every weekend (outside of accidents) and there is zero sharing of blankets or pillows.

How does payment work?

The standard payment arrangement with WeeWatch is automatic withdrawal from your checking account the first Monday of every month. EDC is licensed under WeeWatch, so all registrations and payments are through them.

What forms of payment do you accept?

The standard is automatic withdrawal from your checking account, however, since payments are made through WeeWatch, they can best speak to other payment options for your family.

What if my child is sick?

The sickness policy according to WeeWatch is that children with a temperature of 37.8 or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, acting sick or have suffered a bump to the head, must stay home until they are symptom free or retuned to normal (without the help of medication) before returning to care. The length of time they must remain home depends on the symptoms. If a child presents these symptoms at daycare, parents will be called to pick up their child immediately. In the wake of the COVID-19 virus, EDC continues to abide by the current rules set by the Ministry of Health,

Do I have to pay for care is my child is sick?

Payment is due at the beginning of the month, and days that children are home sick or in isolation are not reimbursed or credited.
